SapuraKencana among bidders for Malikai project offshore Sabah
SapuraKencana Petroleum is one of four drilling contractors reported to be bidding for Shell’s Malikai deep-water development project, offshore Sabah.

According to media reports, the other three are believed to be Energy Drilling, PV Drilling and Seadrill and all four firms have nominated deep-water drilling units for the 18-month development job. Reports have said the Malikai development involves 17 wells drilled from a 23,500 tonne tension leg platform (TLP) production facility, the first TLP to be fabricated and installed in Malaysia.

The Malikai field, in up to 500 m water depth, is part of the Block G Production Sharing Contract awarded by Petronas in 1995 and is operated by Sabah Shell Petroleum Company. Shell and ConocoPhillips each holds 35% interest in the development while Petronas Carigali has 30%
