Shanghai box volumes up 4% in April
Shanghai, the world's busiest container port, recorded a busier month in April over last year but throughput slowed month-on-month, according to figures released by Shanghai International Port (Group) Co (SIPG).

Box volumes in April came up to 2.83m teu, an increase of 4% compared to 2.72m teu seen in the corresponding period of 2012, data from SIPG showed.

Throughput, however, dropped 1.7% month-on-month from 2.88m teu in March.

In the first four months of this year, Shanghai port handled a total of 10.63m teu, an increase of 3.7% from 10.25m teu a year ago.
