Shanghai handles higher throughput in May
Shanghai: China's Shanghai port handled higher volumes of containers in May from both year-on-year and month-on-month figures.

The world's busiest container port posted throughput of 2.84m teu last May, an increase of 2.9% compared to 2.76m teu seen in May 2011. Throughput also improved compared to 2.72m teu recorded in April 2012, according to data from Shanghai International Port (Group).

In the first five months of this year, Shanghai's container throughput amounted to 13.09m teu, up 3.1% compared to the same period of last year.
