Shell said the contract will include the full range of marine lubricants and technical services for the seven ultra-large containerships due to be delivered in 2018 and 2019.
“Securing this major contract for ships that play a leading role in delivering Chinese exports on the just-in-time basis required at this scale demonstrates owner preferences for proven lubricant performance, supported by a global logistics network and comprehensive technical services,” said Jan Toschka, Shell Marine executive director.
The deal includes providing onboard testing and providing customised analysis and comments in Chinese language. Shell has a technical maritime hub in Shanghai with experts who will provide services to Cosco.
