Singapore box throughput flat in February
Singapore: Container throughput at the port of Singapore in February was flat at 2.36m teu, reflecting the shorter number of working days and the Chinese New Year holidays during that month.

Growth was rather flat year-on-year compared to 2.35m teu recorded in February 2012, according to figures from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Last month's throughput dipped 10.3% compared to 2.63m teu registered in January this year, MPA data showed.

In the first two months of this year, Singapore handled a total of 4.98m teu, an improvement from 4.89m teu moved in the same period of 2012.

In 2012, Singapore posted an annual throughput of 31.65m teu, making it the world's second busiest container port after Shanghai which achieved 32.53m teu.
