Singapore box throughput inches up in August
Container handling volumes at the port of Singapore in August increased by 2.7% over the corresponding period of last year, according to preliminary estimates by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Throughput in August came up to 2.82m teu, inching up from 2.74m teu recorded in the same period of last year, data from MPA showed.

Container volumes, however, dropped by 4.6% compared to 2.95m teu posted in July this year.

In the first eight months of this year, Singapore port moved a total throughput of 21.59m teu, up 2.1% over 21.15m teu in the previous corresponding period.
