Singapore box volumes drop 11% in May

Singapore box volumes drop 11% in May
Singapore port’s container throughput decreased in May compared to a year ago, according to preliminary estimates from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Last month’s container volumes dropped 10.9% to 2.62m teu compared to 2.94m teu seen in the same period of 2014, MPA data showed.

Volumes were stable compared to 2.63m teu registered in April this year.

In the first five months of 2015, the port of Singapore handled a total throughput of 13.38m teu, down 2.1% compared to the previous corresponding period.
