Singapore port handles lower box volumes in October
The port of Singapore has recorded a dip in container throughput in October compared to the year-ago period, according to preliminary estimates from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

In October, the world’s second busiest container port handled 2.5m teu, a decrease of 15.8% compared to the volume of 2.97m teu in the previous corresponding period of 2014, MPA figures showed.

Last month’s throughput was slightly higher compared to 2.43m moved in September this year.

In the first 10 months of 2015, Singapore port achieved a total throughput of 26m teu, representing a 7.5% decrease compared to 28.1m teu recorded in the same period of 2014.
