Singapore port records slight increase in October box volumes
The port of Singapore has recorded a marginal increase in container throughput for October compared to the year-ago period, according to preliminary estimates from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

Singapore port handled 2.53m teu of box volumes last month, inching up by 1.2% from 2.5m teu registered in the same month of last year, data from MPA showed.

On a month-on-month comparison, however, volumes dipped by 2.7% from 2.6m teu seen in September this year.

From January to October 2016, Singapore port moved a total throughput of 25.57m teu, down 1.7% from 26.01m teu in the previous corresponding period.
