Singapore port’s container volumes dip 5% in first six months
Container throughput at the port of Singapore in the first half of 2016 dipped by 5% compared to the same period of 2015, according to preliminary estimates from Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

From January to June this year, Singapore port registered a total throughput of 15.19m teu, a decrease of 5% compared to 16m teu seen in the previous corresponding period.

Box volumes in June were recorded at 2.6m teu, inching down 0.8% from 2.62m teu handled in the same month of 2015, MPA data showed.

Last month’s volumes also went down by 2.6% from the 2.67m teu moved in May this year.
