Singapore sees 10% spike in August container volumes
The port of Singapore has recorded a 10.1% spike in container handling volumes in August compared to the year-ago period, according to preliminary estimates from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

In August, Singapore port recorded throughput of 2.95m teu compared to 2.68m teu in the same month of last year, data from MPA showed.

On a month-on-month comparison, August volumes rose by 2.4% compared to 2.88m teu posted in July this year.

In the first eight months of 2017, Singapore moved a total throughput of 21.97m teu, an increase of 7.5% compared to 20.43m teu in the same period of last year.
