The two vessels were priced at $46m in total and they are expected to be delivered by 31 December 2014.
The Hong Kong-listed shipowner has also entered into option contracts for six additional similar vessels.
“The construction will enable the company to expand its self-owned fleet of container vessels to meet the increase in demand for the company's services,” SITC said on Tuesday.
The latest deal for CSBC broke the yard's containership order drought of close to two years after it won the contract from Evergreen Marine in May 2011 to build ten 8,000 teu containerships.
