Strategic Marine clinches order for two LNG-powered ropax ferries
Strategic Marine, subsidiary of Triyards Holdings, has clinched a new contract with Rederij Doeksen to construct two LNG-powered alumunium catamarans worth approximately $50.1m.

The two ropax ferries will feature new single-fuel LNG propulsion system that offers efficiency advantages over dual-fuel engines, Triyards announced.

The eco-friendly ferries are designed to carry up to 600 passengers and 64-cars. Construction is scheduled to start from June with deliveries slated from the second quarter of 2018.

“We foresee an increased focus in the environmental aspects of marine transportation and LNG emerging as the fuel of choice for vessels and ferries,” said Mark Schiller, ceo of Strategic Marine.

“Our focus on the large ferry market is beginning to reap the desired results with this recent win, as we continue to focus on the vertical product chain for aluminium vessels,” he said.

Singapore-listed Triyards recently bagged an order worth $17.8m to build three wind farm suport vessels and one luxury river cruise vessel.
