MPA has updated its list of licensed bunker suppliers on Monday to reflect the exit of Titan Bunkering, which is believed to have returned the licence late last week.
Titan Bunkering, the bunkering arm of Hong Kong-headquartered Titan Petrochemicals, had been scaling down its bunkering operations in Singapore over the last few years, following financial difficulties faced by its parent firm.
As at 17 June, MPA has maintained 71 licensed suppliers in Singapore that have met the requirements under the authority's accreditation scheme for bunker suppliers. The objective of the accreditation is to recognise good bunker suppliers and deter malpractice in the industry.
Meanwhile, sources told Seatrade Global that two to three small privately-owned bunker suppliers may soon lose their accredited licences as their operations fade and consolidation takes place in the industry.
