An undisclosed Japanese shipowner has ordered the TESS42 design log and bulk carrier. The TESS42 bulker follows the design of the TESS38 but has an additional capacity of 2,000 tonnes at same draught and 4,000 tonnes at full load.
The newly contracted vessel will be built at Tsuneishi Group (Zhoushan) Shipbuilding in China.
The vessel is fitted with a scrubber to meet the requirements of IMO 2020 and is compliance with IMO Tier III emission for NOx. A combination of optimisation and a more efficient electronically controlled engine means that fuel consumption is reduced by 4% for the TESS42 versus the TESS38 at the same load and draught.
The Japanese shipbuilder said planned to expand its sales activities targeting clients both in Japan and internationally.
Since 1984 Tsuneishi has built over 400 vessels in the TESS or Tsuneishi Economical Standard Ship design.
