Physical bunker supplier Bomin has started to offer ultra-low sulphur fuel oil (ULSFO) in the Amsterdam – Rotterdam – Antwerp (ARA) region in Northwest Europe.

The bunker supplier is offering 0.1% ULSFO to vessels calling in the region which is complaint with both the 0.5% global sulphur cap from 2020, as well as current emission control area (ECA) limits.

The fuel will be delivered by five barges in in Rotterdam, Ghent, Flushing, and other ports across the ARA region.

Jan Christensen, head of global bunker operations, Bomin Group, commented: “ARA is one of the most important regions for our customers, with real demand for a full spectrum of quality products and the provision of ULSFO will ensure that we can continue to provide the energy they need to compliantly fuel all their operations.”

Bomin said that shipowners would benefit from burning 0.1% ULSFO in the second half of 2019 rather than cleaning to ensure compliance at the start of 2020.
