Integrating Regs4Ships’ offerings into ChartCo’s platform, which boasts a portfolio of 6,000 vessels, which ChartCo said could add to its extensive regulatory compliance offerings. “Our background is very much charting and navigation but that’s developing further into other areas such as rest hours,” explained Martin Taylor, md of ChartCo.
“We’re addressing the growing area for compliance issues for shipowners and managers – they’re getting less time to manage these things, so we’re providing a range of tools and services to make that easier.
“The acquisition is about being able to provide another digital service for vessels helping them with their compliance issues but also through Regs4ships we can provide a whole range of training and consultancy expertise to help customers through particular problems with their safety management systems.”
Regs4Ships sales and marketing manager David Clayden said: “We work closely with flag states to provide Regs4Ships. It’s an enormous product - there are a huge amount of regulations changing on a weekly basis – and there’s always something new coming out. It’s very difficult for busy mariners to keep up with everything. We try and provide a simple, easy-to-use solution. It being integrated into the ChartCo group of products – passage manager – is absolutely ideal.”
