In an expected reorganisation annoucement AP Moller – Maersk said Damco's Supply Chain Services will be integrated into Maersk Line's ocean product from the start of next year. Damco's supply chain services sold as Maersk products and services with an aim of providing an improved customer experience.
A new integrated commerical organisation will operate with one management team, one sales force, a single product organisation and one customer experience organisation. It will be headed by Vincent Clerc cco of Maersk with Klaus Rud Sejling, current ceo of Damco, taking on a new position as head of Maersk's Logistics and Services Products.
Meanwhile Damco's freight forwarding business will continue as a seperate business under the Damco brand with current Damco coo Saskia Groen In't Woud as ceo.
Søren Skou, ceo of AP Moller - Maersk said: "Today we are taking further steps in the transformation of our business on a structural level and how we go to market, enabling us to offer more solutions to our customers in a simpler way.”
Until 2007 Maersk's logistics business was known as Maersk Logistics when it was rebranded as Damco, the Danish shipowner having acquired Damco Sea & Air as part of its buyout of P&O Nedlloyd.
Maersk has also rebranding its three regional container line companies as SeaLand – A Maersk Company.
