Five ferry companies get $53.1m in EU grants to fit scrubbers
Five European ferry companies have won EU grants totaling EUR48m ($53.2m) to fit scrubbers to their vessels.

Interferry said that the awards for five its members came the multi-annual Motorways of the Seas programme – part of the EU’s Connect Europe Facility (CEF). The grants are to help the companies meet the 0.1% sulphur cap for vessels sailing in North Europe and the Baltic Seas that came into force on 1 January this year.

The largest portion EUR18m will go toGrimaldi Group’s Finnlines division, followed by EUR9m to DFDS, EUR8m to Stena Line, EUR7m to Brittany Ferries and EU6m to Scandlines.
