Purchases include $23.2m each for two 51,000dwt 2007-build MR2 tankers, slated for delivery in June; $34.4m for one 50,000dwt newbuild MR2 eco-type tanker, expected in third quarter of this year; and two 51,200dwt eco-type MR2s, expected to be delivered in the third and fourth quarters of 2014, at $31.5m each.
"We have been able to put the net proceeds of our recent equity raising to good work, by acquiring vessels that were available at favorable prices," said Navios chairman and ceo Angeliki Frangou. “We anticipate chartering these vessels out shortly and will update investors once we secure charters that we find attractive in the current market."
