The UK’s Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) said that one Wednesday morning the list on the vessel had been reduced to 25 degrees, from its original 52 degrees.
“All water has been removed from the car decks and it is anticipated that ballast operations will further reduce the list to 15 - 20 degrees today (Wednesday),” MCA said.
Once the list has been reduced to 15 – 20 Marine Accident Investigation Board (MAIB) will board the Hoegh Osaka and skeleton crew will also be put onboard to prepare to the vessel.
The move is expected to take four hours, utilising four tugs and assisted by two pilots and the ship’s master. The route is pictured below:
