Tug Luca and harbour tug Svtizer Milford secured the vessel, with the Forth Jouster helping where needed. An absorbent boom has been placed around the Lysblink Seaways for the duration alongside the berth, as part of a counter pollution plan agreed by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and Clydeport.
“I’m delighted with the way this operation has been carried out,” said Hugh Shaw, the Secretary of State’s Maritime Salvage and Intervention. “It has been a great example of how co-operation between many people and organisations can make a difference in a potentially challenging situation and I’d like to thank everyone who’s been involved, particularly the salvors and the Scottish Environment Group.”
The tug Afon Menai was released and is returning to North Wales, while the Svitzer contract has ended and responsibility for the vessel was transferred to its owners, DFDS.
The vessel is expected to arrive at drydock at Inchgreen next Wednesday.
