New bulker orders for Ultrabulk

New bulker orders for Ultrabulk
Oslo : Ultrabulk has ordered two new 61,000 dwt Japanese-built supramax bulkers, in addition to the kamsarmax vessel ordered in January.

The three new vessels will bring Ultrabulk’s newbuilding orderbook up to nine vessels, plus two options,  in the handysize, supramax and panamax segments. Delivery will take place between 2013 and 2016.

The company’s fleet expansion utilisation facilitated by a long term two-vessel Contract of Affreightment (COA), to take place over 10 years, beginning from the second quarter this year.

“The new generation eco type aupramax bulkers of 61,000dwt fits very well into the needs and requirements of our long term cargo partners,” said Henrik Sleimann Petersen, executive vice president of Ultrabulk. “The Japanese quality and commitment in shipbuilding and the historically proven reliability on delivering on their commitments are essential parts of our long term ability to service our cargo partners. These vessels are front runners within the supramax segment in being amongst the most eco-friendly designs available. By adding the latest contract to our fleet, we have now secured a total of 14 units of the 61,000 dwt supramax segment, of which four units are still to be delivered. ”
