Optimarin wins ballast water order on nine ADNOC tugs
Optimarin has won an order to install its Optimarin Ballast System (OBS) on nine Sinopacific Shipbuilding Anchor Handling Tugs (AHTS).

With an advanced electric propulsion system generating a bollard pull of 80 tonnes, the SPA80A designs are intended to meet the unique operational requirements of the Arabian Gulf, the nine AHTS’ will be operated by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) subsidiary ESNAAD.

Due for delivery before the end of 2017, Optimarin ceo Tore Andersen called the new vessels “State of the art.”

“[The AHTS] are designed to excel in the region’s shallow waters, high temperatures, salinities and humidity,” said Andersen. “This will ensure optimal quality, reliable operations, and Sinopacific wanted a BWT (ballast water treatment) system to match.

“The fact that OBS is modular, and therefore easy to install on vessels where space is at a premium, such as an AHTS, provides another compelling selling point.
