Rickmers buys five 2,200 teu boxships
Germany-based Rickmers Group has entered a deal to buy five 2,200 teu container vessels at a price of more than $30m in total.

The latest acquisition will bring the group's fleet strength to 97.

Rickmers did not reveal further details on the delivery dates of the boxships or the vessels' previous owner.

“Rickmers regards this particular vessel size as one of the few market segments with positive short term upside potential for the charter rates inter alia as the number of vessels in this segment decreased in 2012,” the company said on Thursday.
