Shell confirms $38.3m decommissioning contract with Awilco Drilling

Shell UK has confirmed a $38.3m contract with Awilco Drilling for an 18 well decommissioning programme.

In one of the few bright spots for offshore Awilco Drilling is to decommission 18 wells in the Cheviot Field in the North Sea utilising the semi-submersible rig WillPhoenix.

The 18 well contract is worth $38.3m and Shell has an option for the decommissioning of a further eight wells. The work is expected to start on 1 September and take around 330 days to complete.

WilPhoenix is one of Awilco Drilling's two Enhanced Pacesetter semi-submersibles and is equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1,200 feet and is currently stacked.
