The win came following a technical prequalification competition which began at the start of 2013, whose entrants consisted of a shortlist of candidates from different nationalities.
At 65m long by 15.8m wide, the De Hoop design vessels are expected to be delivered between the beginning of 2015 and the end of 2016, with construction split between De Hoop’s two shipyards, Lobith and Foxhol in the Netherlands. Once delivered, the vessels will operate in the Arabian Gulf, where their high DNV Environmental Regularity Number (ERN) guarantees optimal use of all thrusters. Each vessel incorporates a diesel-electric propulsion system with two azimuth thrusters in the stern and two bow thrusters, allowing for a speed of 13 knots at lowest possible power (2500kW). The PSVs are designed to be kept on-station with a Dynamic-Positioning-2 system, when carrying out loading / unloading operations around offshore drilling rigs or production platforms.
Meanwhile, the vessels will feature low noise accommodation for 28 seafarers with a Crew-Accomodation-Comfort-3 (CAC3) rating.
