Following the heavy defeat in the British parliament for the Prime Minister Teresa May’s Brexit deal the British Ports Association (BPA) has urged the government to do “whatever is necessary to avoid a disorderly withdrawal from the EU”.

Who knew it? Ports are a vital part of the UK economy, Liam Fox told a gathering of some 200 people at a reception in the House of Lords last week. And, he said, ports are not only important economic entities: “They also play a vital role in facilitating imports and exports.”

Busan Port has unveiled plans to enable it to handle 13m teu of transhipment cargo by 2020, aiming to be the number two transshipment port in the world.
