Five Oceans Salvage and SMIT Salvage have boarded 1,740teu container vessel Hansa Brandenburg and successfully contained the fire.
The salvors report that the damage was most extensive in one of the vessel's cargo holds as well as the forepart of the acommodation block. No oil pollution from the incident was reported, and an initial survey for a towing connection to the vessel has been completed, with towing to be undertaken by tug Coral Sea Flos.
