TCM adopts new new tanker training tool
Athens-based Tsakos Columbia Shipmanagement reports that it is strengthening ties with Seagull Maritime to apply the latter’s HR software tools across its entire managed tanker fleet of 55 vessels.

Seagull’s Tanker Competence and Promotion Management System (TCPMS), available both onboard and online, allows shipping companies to monitor the career development of their seafarers and integrate competence and promotion management based on the results of e-learning.

Tsakos Columbia Shipmanagement (TCM), a jv between Greece’s Tsakos Group and Cyprus-based Columbia Shipmanagement, has been using Seagull’s e-learning modules and crew evaluation tests in its management activities since 2004, with fleet-wide implementation since 2008, as well as at the Maria Tsakos TCM Academy established in Athens in 2013.

“TCPMS, which sets out specific work-related competencies required for each officer to advance to the next rank, is expected to provide an additional value to our human resource management system in line with our standing objective for continual improvement,” said the company, which also manages seven bulkers and seven container ships in addition to tankers.
