THE Alliance and Ocean Alliance members to combine Med - US East Coast services

THE Alliance and members of the Ocean Alliance are merging two Meditterranean – US East Coast services.

The AL6 (Atlantic 6) service operated by THE Alliance, comprising Ocean Network Express (ONE), Hapag-Lloyd and Yang Ming is being combined with the Amerigo service offered by CMA CGM, Cosco and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL).

The lines will deploy six 8,000 teu vessels on the new service three by Hapag- Lloyd, Ocean Network Express, and Yang Ming and the remaining by CMA CGM and OOCL.

The port rotation for the new service will be La Spezia – Genoa – Fos – Barcelona – Valencia – New York – Norfolk – Savannah – Miami – Algeciras – La Spezia. The new service is scheduled to start in December subject to regulatory approval.

ONE said that Livorno currently served by the AL6 service would no longer be included in the new service but that THE Alliance would be offering it as port of call on a revamped AL7 service as part of its cooperation with ZIM.
