UGS expects EC and Greek government agreement on shipping institutional framework 'soon'
The Union of Greek Shipowners (UGS) expects a mutually agreeable solution between Greece and the European Commission over the institutional framework for the country's shipping industry soon.

At its agm on 26 June UGS members were briefed about the course of the pending case of the informal investigation of the Greek shipping institutional framework by the DG for Competition of the European Commission.

UGS president Theodore Veniamis expressed the conviction that a mutually acceptable agreement between the Greek state and the European Commission will soon be reached on the issue.

He believed it will in any case respect the fundamental principles of the Greek shipping institutional regime of Greek-owned shipping and, especially, its constitutional guarantee.
