Zeaborn Group, which acquired Rickmers-Linie in April, is buying five 30,000 dwt heavy lift vessels from Rickmers Group.
The vessels – Rickmers Singapore, Rickmers Jakarta, Rickmers Seoul, Rickmers New Orleans and Rickmers Dalian – are equipped with four cranes with a combined lifting capacity of 640 tonnes. The five vessels are sisterships of the Rickmers Hamburg which Zeaborn already owns.
“The purchase of these five vessels from Rickmers Holding is therefore not only a further commitment to the expansion of commercial activities and of the Rickmers-Linie but also ensures independence from third-party tonnage and external influences,” said Ove Mayer, managing partner of Zeaborn.
“With the ownership of the liner-service vessels, we are able to ensure the Round-The-World Pearl String liner service for our customers on a sustainable basis.”
The price of the transaction was not disclosed.
Zeaborn has a combined fleet of around 50 multi-purpose vessels.
