DNV GL hosts double celebration

DNV GL hosts double celebration
Classification society DNV GL has celebrated a double milestone: the 150th anniversary of parent DNV Foundation and DNV GL's first year as a merged company.

More than 1,000 guests, including dignitaries, government officials and customers, attended a prestigious event held in Oslo on Saturday. Festivities started at the Oslo Opera House, followed by an evening dinner at DNV GL's headquarters in Høvik.

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg paid tribute to DNV's "critical role in the development of key Norwegian industries" and alluded to a new era of the merged company DNV GL, calling it "a leading organizationin many of the industries it serves, and an example for the nation. Thank you for your important contribution to the Norwegian society."

Chairman of the DNV GL Board Leif-Arne Langøy commented, "As society pushes for a safe and sustainable future, there is a need for institutions like DNV GL – institutions that develop recognized standards and build trust. Created from two highly respected companies with parallel histories spanning 150 years, DNV GL now provides an even broader view, enabling customers to make the world safer, smarter and greener."

DNV GL president and ceo Henrik O. Madsen said the group was using the occasion to celebrate its legacy but also to look forward and to "create dialogue with our stakeholders on what we expect to be a period of significant change ahead. These dialogues will be structured round anniversary events throughout the year, and focus on a range of sustainability issues."
