Catsiba will represent LISCR in the UAE and Middle East region, described as an area of strategic importance and expanding business for the Registry.
Catsiba’s career to date spans the spheres of legal, insurance, academia, consultancy and shipping. After graduating with a Master of Law from UCL in London, she started out as a lecturer in shipping, transport and trade law at the Southampton Institute of Maritime Studies, before later working as legal and general counsel for several leading shipping companies in Greece, Switzerland and the Philippines. In 2008 she founded a legal and insurance consultancy company for shipping and aviation, followed by her own shipping company in 2010.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to represent the world’s fastest growing and most innovative Registry in one of the most exciting areas for genuine expansion in the shipping and corporate sectors,” says LISCR’s new Dubai-based business development manager.
The Liberian-flag fleet, second in size to only Panama, currently stands at over 4,000 ships, aggregating roughly 136m gross tons and over 207m dwt.
