The Panama Canal expansion has made its supersized presence felt all the way in the River Thames with the call of the first neo-panamax vessel to the London Container Terminal (LCT) in Tilbury.

“Don’t worry – we’re not having a raffle,” the Port of London Authority’s Robin Mortimer assured his audience at the beginning of London International Shipping Week (LISW).

This week, the River Thames played host to its biggest ever maritime guest – Maersk’s 15,500 teu E-Class vessel Edith Maersk.
