The cars were loaded onto vessels in decidedly un-Carribbean weather in Portsmouth, UK, and are due to arrive in Barbados ahead of the festival's opening on 17 May 2014.
As well as a thorough 50-year pedigree in banana shipping, Geest line also offers a range of services for shipping large machinery and vehicles to the caribbean from Europe, including a driver collection service.
The line will also be responsible for shipping the vehicles back to Europe once they've finished larking about in Barbados with Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
As the Geest reefer vessel prepared for departure, Top Gear fan favourite the Stig could be seen taking his position behind the wheel of one of the vehicles, ready to sit in solitary darkness for the ocean voyage. Some say he actually owns an unlimited master's license, despite an acute risk of personal injury though corrosion while at sea.
"We're thrilled to be working with our partners, the Barbados Tourism Authority, to support the Top Gear Festival Barbados," commented Peter Dixon, managing director of Geest Line. " It promises to be a fabulous celebration of all things motoring and a superb way to promote Barbados and provide an onward stimulus to the country's economy."
The Top Gear Festival takes place at Bushy Park Circuit in Barbados on 17-18 May.
