Daikin opens reefer spare parts centre in Dubai
Growing container trade across the Middle East has prompted Japan’s Daikin Reefer to open a dedicated spare parts centre in Dubai.

The satellite centre, to be managed by Australian-headquartered reefer servicing operator IRS International (IRSI), is located in the Jebel Ali Freezone (Jafaz) on the doorstep of the region’s largest port, DP World Jebel Ali.

Daikin Reefer has previously relied on shipping spare parts to its 20 authorised repairers dotted around the 15 main ports of the Middle East. The Dubai centre comes in response to customer demand and is designed to cut delivery costs and improve the supply chain across the region including Egypt as well as at the key Horn of Africa port in Djibouti.

“Daikin Reefer is committed to offering the best possible service for our customers,” Katsuhiro Tetsuya, director of Daikin’s Reefer container division, said at Wednesday’s official opening in Dubai.

“This means ensuring that the right people and the right equipment are in place to ensure we continually offer a service grounded in integrity, performance, and efficiency.

“Our partner, IRS International is the leader in repair and maintenance for the reefer container industry. Their passion for reefers coupled with their unrivalled skill and expertise makes them the perfect partner to manage our Dubai parts centre.”

Daikin Transportation and Refrigeration Systems Division (Daikin Reefer) is a wholly-owned division of Daikin Industries Ltd and a leading supplier of refrigeration equipment to the global container industry.

Its “Active CA” system is designed to slow the aging process that perishable products undergo during transit, enabling them to be transported for longer periods and extending shelf life at port of destination.
