Dubai’s Triangle builds two FOSVs for Marine Core
The UAE’s Triangle Marine Services is to deliver two aluminium fast offshore support vessels (FOSVs) to the local Marine Core and Charter in November, company officials said at a keel-laying ceremony at Dubai Maritime City yesterday.

Marine Core owns eight vessels and operates a further 65. Adib Abdel Massih, ceo, Marine Core and Charter, said at that the company was engaged in assisting contractors in marine construction projects in the Arabian Gulf.

These are the first vessels to be constructed by Triangle, as it enters the offshore market for the first time. Zaid Abbas, operations director, Triangle, said the vessels would have the ability to ride six-metre waves at 20 knots, differentiating them from other vessels in their class. Bureau Veritas will act as class society for the newbuilds.

“We are planning worldwide deployment for them. We are targetting places like the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and also possibly West Africa,” said Abdel Massih. “The hull is designed to accommodate rough seas.”

The two 45m vessels were designed by Camarc Design of the UK. Each vessel features a deck area of 140 sq m and cargo capacity of 100 tonnes. An area for 12 VIPs is incorporated along with a seating capacity for 100 personnel.
