GEM receives aframax sister
Dubai: Gulf Energy Maritime (GEM) has taken delivery of its second aframax product tanker, Gulf Valour, two months after receiving its first, Gulf Vision. The 114,700 dwt vessels, each capable of carrying clean petroleum products and dirty products, were built by Samsung Heavy Industries of Korea.

During the acceptance speech, ceo Ahmed Al Falahi said the Gulf Valour's delivery had “further elevated GEM's standing in the industry as amongst the top product tanker operators in the world."

Gulf Valour joins GEM's existing fleet of one aframax, nine modern panamax tankers, six MR tankers, and three handysize tankers. Formed in 2004, the company is a joint venture partnership between Dubai's Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), the Oman Oil Company (OOC) and Thales of France under the UAE Offsets program.
