The $42m expansion of the majority APM Terminals-operated facility will consist of four super-post-panamax cranes scheduled for delivery in mid-2016. The new cranes will bring SCCT’s crane total to 24, making the it the new busiest terminal in the Med, taking over from APM Terminals Algeciras which handled 3.5m teu in 2014.
The new 52 m-high STS cranes will have a reach of 72 m, allowing them to serve vessels of up to 18,000 teu capacity.
