According to a report from Sunship Schiffahrtskontor KG, the five Polish and Russian crew members were taken into care by company representatives in Nigeria, are undergoing medical checkups, and are said to be in good health despite being kept in rough conditions while in captivity.
A statement from the company said: “Sunship Schiffahrtskontor KG wishes to extend its thanks to the organizations who have worked towards securing their release, including the Nigerian local authorities, the embassies of Poland and the Russian Federation in Nigeria and the German Bundespolizei [as well as] all those who have shown their support and encouragement in these difficult circumstances."
