BW LPG’s first retrofitted dual-fuel VLGC BW Gemini has been involved in a minor collision off Panama.
The 2015-built VLGC BW Gemini was at anchor in at Cristóbal, Panama, when it was lightly struck by another, undisclosed vessel at 0730hrs on 19 December, according to BW LPG.
“All crew is safe and accounted for, and no injury has been reported. No pollution has been sighted, and instrumentation onboard indicate that there is no leakage from BW Gemini. Sounding has been conducted to ensure the integrity of the vessel. All required notifications have been made,” BW LPG said in a statement.
The shipowner said the vessel would proceed for repairs while waiting for its Panama Canal slot and that no impact on the voyage was expected.
The BW Gemini converted to dual-fuel to run on LPG completed its sea trials off Hong Kong in early November and embarked on its maiden voyage across the transpacific.
