A Vietnamese-registered general cargoship Dolphin 18 sent out a distress call on Saturday morning and later sank.

The Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said its Maritime and Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) had been alerted by the container vessel Nicolai Maersk that it had received a distress call from the Dolphin 18. The MRCC was alerted at around 07:00 hrs Singapore time on 11 January.
The 7,750 dwt, Dolphin 18, was reported to be about 274 nautical miles southwest of Vung Tau, Vietnam, which falls within the Singapore Maritime Search and Rescue Region.
The Hong Kong-registered, Maersk-owned, container ship Nicolai Maersk arrived at the scene of the distressed vessel “shortly after” and rescued all 18 Vietnamese crew from lifeboats. All 18 rescued seafarers were reported to be in a healthy condition.
The Dolphin 18 is later reported to have sunk, and the MRCC is issuing navigational broadcast for passing vessels to navigate with caution in the area.
According to Equasis the 1999-built Dolphin 18 is owned by Vin Son Trading & Trading and transport.
The Nicolai Maersk plans to disembark the 18 rescued Vietnamese crew at its next port of call in Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia.
