No further oil sightings from Singapore bunker spill
The Singapore authorities are standing down the response to a bunker spill earlier in the week.
At 5:40 pm local time on 28 October five tonnes of bunker fuel were spilt in an overflow incident during a bunkering operation between the bulk carrier Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier Ines Corrado and licensed bunker tanker.
Craft from the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) sprayed dispersants, and a current buster deployed to recover oil from the water if sighted.
In an update on 30 October the MPA said there had been no sightings of oil from the incident and oil response assets that has been deployed would be stood down from the incident which occurred offshore of Changi to the east of the island.
The MPA also said it would be standing down oil response assets for an earlier incident on 20 October involving an oil leak from a Shell land-based pipeline between Bukom Island and Bukom Kecil.
The bunker spill was the third oil spill reported in Singapore waters this year. In June this year more than 400 tonnes of very low sulphur fuel oil were spilt when Netherlands-flagged dredger Vox Maxima, suffering a sudden loss of engine and steering control, hit stationary bunker vessel Marine Honour at Pasir Panjang Terminal.
