Pump manufacturer Svanehøj opens Japan office

Svanehøj, headquartered in Aalborg, Denmark, has opened a new office in Kobe, Japan which will be helmed by Jens Peter Lund, becoming international sales director in Asia for the company.

With more shipowners opting for environmentally friendly, alternative fuels such LNG, ethane and methanol, the Danish company expects to quadruple its sale of pumps this year, and has set a goal of then doubling this number in 2020. This year Samsung Heavy Industries ordered 48 Svanehøj pumps for three very large ethane carriers (VLECs) it is building.

“We already have many customers in East Asia, particularly in Japan, and we notice a very exciting development is taking place out there. The gas market is growing rapidly, driven by a focus on getting rid of harmful particles from oil and coal. I am convinced that we can increase our sales through physical presence In East Asia,” says company ceo Søren Kringelholt Nielsen.

Svanehøj Group was founded last year when investment company Solix acquired what was then Wärtsila Pumps from the Wärtsilä Group. The company has the brands Svanehøj, Hamworthy Pumps, Eureka and Dolphin and has 280 employees in Denmark, UK and Singapore.
