APM Terminals in Costa Rica terminal deal

APM Terminals in Costa Rica terminal deal
APM Terminals, Van Oord and Bam International have signed a $460m contract for the construction of the new Moin ContainerTerminal (TCM) in Costa Rica.

The contract is for the construction of the first phase of the 1.3m teu deepwater development, which is due to begin in the first quarter of 2014..

APM Terminals' total investment in the Puerto Limón/Moín complex, where TCM will be built, is set to top $1bn.

The consortium of Van Oord and BAM will construct 1.5-km of reinforced shoreline and breakwater protection, reclaim 40 hectares of land and dredge access channels and the turning basin.

Puerto Limón/Moín handled over 1m teu in 2012 and is currently limited to vessels of 2,500 teu,  but will be capable of handling the 12,000 teu capacity vessels once work is complete.
