Bouchard Transportation order ATB Tug duo from VT Halter

Bouchard Transportation order ATB Tug duo from VT Halter
The US’ Bouchard Transportation has ordered a pair of 6000 bhp Articulated Tug Barge (ATB) tugs, to begin construction at VT Halter Marine later this year.

The new 130 ft long tugs feature  twin-screw propulsion, driven by a Tier III engines. Dubbed ‘Bouchard Boys’ and ‘Evening Light’, the vessels will be classed by ABS.

Each of the vessels will be equipped with Intercon Coupler System, eliminating the risks and maintenance associated with towing lines and hull contact. Once delivered, the tugs will be "married up" to two of the company’s existing ATB barges.

“I am happy to share the news of Bouchard Transportation’s fleet expansion,” said Morton Bouchard, president and ceo of the eponymous company. “I look forward to the delivery of two more first-class vessels built by VT Halter, and would like to thank  Brian Everist for Intercon’s assistance in completing these contracts.”
