“Panama has always been a strategically important location, and of course the expansion of the Panama Canal is set to change world trade patterns and open up the area to new markets,” said Richard Gayton, Braemar Regional Director, Americas, in a corporate statement.
“Panama serves as a hub airport for multiple south and Central American destinations. This new office will therefore greatly enhance our ability to provide a quality service both locally within Panama and throughout Central and South America,” he added.
Braemar offers a broad range of technical and in-depth expert services to the maritime industry. In addition to its traditional Hull & Machinery damage surveys, it has also developed a scope of services which include expert marine consultancy services and also expansion of its project cargo warranty capacity.
“This new office complements the tremendous business growth we have seen throughout the Americas, with our offices in New York, Miami, New Orleans, Houston, Seattle, Montreal, Rio and a planned office in Toronto, providing our clients with a fast, mainly local response,” commented Gayton.
The Panama office is manned by staff surveyor, Elonys Lopez Cedeño, a Chief Engineer who has spent 14 years at sea on a variety of vessels and with experience as a class surveyor with BV, dealing with Chinese new building projects, with special responsibility for machinery installations.
