Offloading fire damaged cargo from the Hapag-Lloyd containership Yantian Express is expected to take another five weeks while a port is yet to be found to discharge undamaged boxes.

In a customer advisory Hapag-Lloyd alliance partner Ocean Network Express (ONE) said in customer advisory that operations to unload the distressed cargo at a facility in Freeport Bahamas were ongoing and were expected to take another weeks.

However, cargo that was undamaged in the fire onboard the vessel at the start of the year cannot be discharged at this facility, which is only for distressed cargo ONE said.

“Additionally, and while there is a containerized terminal berth in the vicinity, it appears among other considerations that at the moment such terminal may not have sufficient capacity for the sound cargo. Alternative options are currently being investigated” the customer advisory said.
